OPEN PODIUM DANSMAKERS AMSTERDAM
During the Open Podium 6 choreographers get the chance to show their latest work to the audience, colleagues and peers. For the choreographers the perfect opportunity to present themselves and for us the chance to discover new talent. The moment to first discover new makers and be surprised by their work.

Preceding the Open Podium you can join the interactive performance SELF, by Jochen Stechmann, by participating in an open session in one of the studios. The open sessions are from 19:30h.-20:20h. and in the break.

KEREN ROSENBERG
BODY-HOUSE
‘The body and me are not the same.
The body is the house in which I live.
I don’t own this house and this house is not me, though its my house.
Sometimes I feel my body as a home and sometimes it becomes an unfamiliar property.
I live under my skin.
Sometimes I come through the walls of my skin to feel, I even open small cracks to the outside, I don’t like exposing too much cause then I am vulnerable.’

WHERE ARE WE NOW
It is not a ‘fusion’, it is purely an overview of what exists in a molded natural form. The overlap in the dance world, new influences from dance and art; ‘Where are we now’ stands for innovation anno 2015. Where do you stand? What did you have to endure to get there? A trodden path and a fought battle. An autobiographical story in conceptual, moving art. It will be a performance in which urban (dance) cultures are mixed with academic styles. A new direction.

REX CLEMENSIA
SOLO
Dance has made me to how I am: spiritual and open minded. I try to be pure, to be human, vulnerable and powerful. In my dance-solo I research what words do to my movements and what my heartbeat does to my words.
Rex Clemensia is driven by his passion of searching dance knowledge, life and energy of the body, mind and soul. Looking for the fundamental base in different dance techniques, he wants to touch his audiences conscious and unconscious brain. It is essential for Rex to communicate with his audience on different levels.
Hip hop is his base, this dance style has learned him that the body speaks from the inner self, combining the pure, high energy with the music.

ELINE VAN ARK
DE ONZICHTBARE DANSER
The Invisible Dancer is a sensorial dance performance that will be experienced with closed eyes. The sounds of the dancer will activate your imagination. Sound becomes tangible and movements get under your skin. Do you dare to surrender to the tangibility of the dark? Will you find your safety within the invisibility?
Close your eyes to see beyond the shape of dance, and discover how deep the experience can be.

HAI WEN HSU
UNFINISHED
A body moves with slow intensity, as if entering a fantasy or unreal zone. A movement that reflects the complex relationship between the body and its social environment. This solo also questions how much a dance performance needs to be controlled, and how much the body simply needs to let go and allow for something unexpected to happen. At times, the body seems cold and indifferen as its limbs become twisted; but it still responds to warmth and touch. It is almost as if the dancer is looking for a moment to unchain herself.

THEN, BEFORE, NOW, ONCE MORE
The universe seems to play by the rule of constant change. Nothing remains, everything transforms. Life and death, days and nights, seasons… What is now isn’t what it was then, nor before, but may occur again. Nature lets us witness these patterns in everything, including feelings. How do we cope with this fact when we seek for eternity?
