A short film directed by Elena Maria Doyle based on the poem “No Ordinary Sun” by Hone Tu Whare. An allegorical interpretation of a line from the poem that reads, “Tree let your arms fall: raise them not sharply in supplication to the bright enhaloed cloud”. Employing visually sumptuous imagery, the naked human form through the medium of dance portrays the seed of life that blooms into a tree.
\nMeniscus has screened at the Interfilm international film festival Berlin 2010. The Cinequest International film festival, San Jose, 2011, Cinequest. Meniscus was nominated for best experimental short film at the Female Eye International film festival Toronto 2011.
\nMeniscus was selected for the official competition at Annecy International animation festival 2011, The worldwide international short film festival, Toronto 2011. The Guanajuato film festival, Mexico. The Stockholm International film festival 2011 The Odensa international film festival Denmark and the Galway film Fleadh 2011. The Linoleum festival Moscow 2011.
